Second Life Ministry!
I know most of you have probably heard about the game "Second Life". But I wanted to share some idea’s about this virtual world that you may not have thought about before. Second life and the gaming industry has become a multi-billion dollar industry. This opens new opportunity’s for community fellowship, which many say will drive the future of evangelism. With many possibilities for online ministries, this virtual world has opened doors to people that would have never given someone the time of day. Second Life, is a virtual world, where one can experience most of the things we face in our world today. One can plant a church, like many have done already or conduct bible studies. The growth in Second Life has reached 1 million members and is still growing rapidly. If you haven’t experienced this virtual world, I recommend signing up for a free account and get your feet wet. Remember this virtual world is no different than real life, people interact the same way, and they respond the same way. Ministry is the same no matter what environment. What you will find different is an openness that your probably haven’t seen before in most.
Create Your Own Book
Have you every wanted to create your very own book. Whether it’s a cookbook containing family recipes or maybe you want a book of photo’s or maybe its just rambling musings of your life. Blurb.com has a new beta service that is trying to cut out the middleman and make it easy for anyone to easily publish his or her own book in a cost effective way. There are other similar services out there, that for the professional I would recommend, like LULU.com
LULU.com is probably the de-facto standard of self-publishing, but blurb.com does have it’s own style and niche’s.
I’m thinking of using one of these services for my own book. I think this is another great way to publish ministry ideas and possibly do creative publication evangelism.
Ministry in a Pagan Environment
I ran across this blog that put together 13 conclusions on doing ministry in a pagan environment. I think the conclusions can be applied to anyone, not just so called “pagans”. This is a list that every church should hand out to its members. Check it out.
Evangelism – Web 2.0 Style!
Some of you might have heard of the term Web 2.0. But what does that mean, and what connections if any does it have to religious topics? You might get a different answer depending on whom you ask. Well, I will give you my theoechnology explanation and hopefully it will find new meaning in how you approach evangelism.
Web 2.0 in a nutshell is a matured approach to media presentation. It’s a set of standard ways to present WebPages, in a simple postmodern way. It’s not limited to one type of medium and it’s not limited to just presentation. It’s also how one interacts with someone. In fact I believe one could argue that Web 2.0 is just an outward expression of a postmodern culture. An example of this is the explosive growth of social networking sites. Building relationships on the web is a popular way to share, interact and express one’s idea’s. Myspace.com being the site that has gotten the most recent media attention has millions of subscribers. But Myspace is just one of literally thousands of social networking sites, taking advantage of this phenomenon.
Well, hopefully you have an idea where evangelism fits in.
How does one evangelize a modern day world? How does one express one’s faith? Does building relationships mean anything when it comes to telling someone about Christ? Sharing, communicating is nothing new; the medium is the only thing that has changed. All that is needed is a group sharing their faith, idea’s that can transcend into an online faith community.
Let me know your ideas on this topic. I plan to post many examples of “Web 2.0 Evangelism”, which is essentially the purpose of theoechnology.com
I’m currently writing a book on theoechnology, while looking at new ways to minister. I’m hoping to have many examples of online ministry that anyone could participate in.
I will have more information on availability in the near future.
Outline Your Church Website
I ran across this article that might benefit some of the ministers that subscribe to my blog. Churchcommunicationspro.com outlines nicely the key area’s to focus on for a powerful website for your church. If you don’t know where to start, then I reccomend taking a look at this outline.
Why are we here?
I don’t subscribe totally to Rick Warren’s model for a “Purpose Driven Life”. But this video from the TED conference Rick Warren picks a topic that is truly beneficial for today’s greedy world. If you wonder why we are here on this earth, (while looking past faith, grace and the cross), then this presentation should bring some light to the lost art of helping others.
Should Christians Care About The Environment?
If you care about the creator, then shouldn’t you care about creation? The health of the environment and how Christians should be involved is now a topic gaining in popularity. With 86 of the country’s leading evangelical scholars and pastors signing on to the Evangelical Climate Initiative, there is finally a documented reason for fighting Global Warming. Some would argue that this is already documented in Scripture.
Colossians chapter 1 says: Jesus “is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth … all things were created before him and through him.”
Whether you are a Christian or not, the environment effects us all. Being an environmentalist doesn’t mean that you are hippie or solely looking after your needs only. It’s now about saving nature, beauty, our money, and our lungs.
Will evangelicals help save the earth? This is a great article on the connection between God, Christianity and the environmental movement. I hope to have more posts on this subject in the near future. I welcome like always your comments.

Who will save us this time?

There is also some revenue sharing capabilties through answering and connecting with other people and their questions. There mgiht be some ministry idea’s that could come from this.
