The Medium and The Message
The question is not “Does the Internet change the message of our ministry”, it is “HOW does the message change when it is communicated via the Internet?” We all interact differently depending on the medium, television and radio both are different mediums that require different ways to interact with the audience. The Internet one could say is a hybrid of all mediums of the past and thus requires us to change the way we communicate our message to the world.
The Facebook Pastor
I ran across this article and ironically it’s in my back yard. This story is a great real example of using social networking sites for ministry purposes. Give your comments.

Social MicroFunding
I found a good list of MicroFunding services that make it easy to contribute to a charity or your preferred cause. These sites are the future of religious and charitable giving.

GoBible
GoBible is the first company in world that has taken the audio of the entire Bible and broken it down to the verse level so that the user can begin to play, bookmark or repeat individual verses. It also includes, story index, holiday/event index and a Bible reading plan in a year. This is a portable MP3 device that is very small and doesn’t require a computer or any software downloads. This would make a great Christmas gift this year. For my loyal readers, if you click this link you will receive a 10% discount on your purchase at GoBible.

The Christian CNN
Here is a online service that is full of Christian news CNN style. Christianpost.com is an independent pan-denominational Christian media company that seems to be doing a good job at delivering current news surrounding Christianity in the world.
I found this great article on their site titled: "Americans’ Confidence in the Church Nears All-Time Low". There are many reasons for this, but in my opinion its a direct correlation to the rise of the new postmodern thought in America. (Article)

Going to the Movies
It’s becoming more and more popular and difficult for churches to find new locations to meet. Some of the reasons for this lie in the expense or lack of buildings to utilize for a worship service. This is why movie theaters are becoming popular places to lease. Most theaters are looking for additional income when not in use and will welcome churches with open arms. One organization that helps churches establish contacts or agreements is National Cinemedia. They help new or existing churches find a new place to setup and worship at popular theater locations. One success story to this model is the thriving National Community Church in Washington D.C. They were able to expand to four theater locations and still operate under one church umbrella.

Life’s Questions
In the past I have mentioned services like askville.com where they provide a user driven question and answer collaboration portal or wiki. I thought I would mention one more that has risen to the top and seems to be the most popular at this moment. WikiAnswers.com is one of them that has been expanding their user base and content. This service like many similar services can have a huge impact and opportunity for ministries. It gives anyone the ability to ask a question about God or life in general and have many offer help or insight. There is a huge Religion/Spirituality category where many have already taken part. If you are using this service or others, leave a comment on how you might or are using this for ministry.

Commodity: Religion
The future of Religion as predicted by Ted Peters a professor at Pacific Lutheran Seminary in 1980 gave a glum outlook of what Religion will look like in the future. Materialism will overtake our minds and thus religion will just become another commodity in a materialistic society. It’s amazing to me how accurate his predictions have become. People go to and from between churches or religions shopping for what interest them and thus we are bound by the whims of newness and so called biblical innovations. I’m not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but something to watch for; since so many have been enslaved by their human ego and not allowing Jesus to be the focus in their lives.
