Closed and Open Collaborative Networks

December 28th, 2008 by Todd Mace in Events, Science, Social Networking

In this 2005 talk, Clay Shirky shows how closed groups and companies will give way to looser networks where small contributors have big roles and fluid cooperation replaces rigid planning. This is interesting to ponder when thinking about how churches and denominations operate. What are hybrid ways that a group can collaborate and when does a group become an institution? All-important questions to ask when visualizing what a church organization might look like in the future.

World Population?

June 30th, 2007 by Todd Mace in Religion, Science

Have you ever wondered how many people have lived throughout time? It’s a difficult process, but the Population Reference Bureau have at least given their best guesstimate. 106,456,367,669 is probably a little high considering the age of this earth, but who knows, there have been a lot of baby’s born throughout time. It’s amazing to me to know that God knows every hair and has a purpose and a love for every single one. Heaven is going to be a big place even if only a fraction make it. It’s going to be an awesome place with many people to talk with. Think of all the different people throughout the ages you will get to meet and talk with learning first hand what it was like during their time on earth. I hope and pray that all who read this post now and into the future will be in heaven some day. If you are wondering how to get to heaven, click on this link to enroll in free bible studies.

God’s Earth?

March 7th, 2007 by Todd Mace in Current Affairs, Religion, Science

Whether you believe Global Warming is real or not. If you are a Christian though then you should be aware that God created this earth and that we are probably not doing our best at taking care of it. ( Genesis 2:15)

Several months ago a PBS Special with Bill Moyer presented a series on the environment and the connection to the evangelical movement. It’s called "Is God Green". You can watch the entire series online as well as many other closely related topics on the environment. I’m very impressed with the coverage and material that Bill Moyer documented. Even though some love to politically take sides based on such environmental issues, this series though takes a different approach strictly from a Christian perspective.
