The Social Media Revolution
The newest video representation of media transforming our society. Where do you think we need to do ministry now!!
TechEvangelism Conference
I enjoyed presenting and meeting many new faces at the annual TechEvangelism conference in Huntsville, AL this week. As promised here is a link to my presentation. Enjoy
GIEN Conference 2009
I spoke at the GIEN Conference today in Orlando, FL. I presented a list of tech resources that could be used for online ministries. A PDF copy of the presentation can obtained below.
Transparency
TransparencyCamp 2009 just finished in Washington brought about by Obama’s initiative to make government more transparent. Personally I think this is a good thing, we need to be more transparent everywhere, it builds trust and accountability.
The fact that there was even a conference to discuss and converse about transparency is a step in the right direction government or not. If our government is trying to be more transparent to its people by the hand of the first African-American President, how much more do we as Christian people need to open up our homes, lives and churches. It would be wonderful to see a conference on transparency surrounding the operation of churches, denominations and non-profits.

Twinity
Twinity is a brand new online virtual world similar to Second Life. The difference is that the landscape and map of the world resembles our real world. The first city created is Berlin,Germany where you can build your own home, explore the city and meet new people. I like this idea of a virtual world better, because it gives the users a real reference point in the world we live in. It also opens up possibilities for real commerce and education programs. When a 3D environment can bring the real and virtual worlds closer, I think it eludes to a better experience and also provides realistic ministry possibilities.
The Sticks
There is a new conference being launched this year in three different regions of the country, ironically called “Sticks”. What is unique about this conference is that its target is rural America, small town churches. I’m amazed that this is the first large conference of its sorts since most of America’s churches are located in small towns and in rural areas. Finally a conference not for the Mega-Churches!!
Where Theology and Technology Meet
Today, I did a seminar at the NAD Ministries Convention in a cold and snowy Myrtle Beach, SC.
For those that wanted a copy of my presentation or those that didn’t get a chance to come. I have posted a PDF of the slides along with the video clip that I showed. I will add my notes at a later date when I have had time to organize. I enjoyed meeting and talking with those that were there and hope that some of this content can be used in each of your fields.

Closed and Open Collaborative Networks
In this 2005 talk, Clay Shirky shows how closed groups and companies will give way to looser networks where small contributors have big roles and fluid cooperation replaces rigid planning. This is interesting to ponder when thinking about how churches and denominations operate. What are hybrid ways that a group can collaborate and when does a group become an institution? All-important questions to ask when visualizing what a church organization might look like in the future.

Bullrun
I have a creative idea for ministry branding and ministry awareness. Join the annual Bullrun challenge. Get ministry sponsorship and race your favorite car to the finish line.
Last year I had the privilege of attending one of the Bullrun 2007 stops in Staunton, VA. It was impressive to see all of the exotic cars role into town with the Hollywood entourage.

Bulrun 2007 – Stonewall Jackson Hotel – Staunton, VA
Here is my idea: A pimped out Toyota Prius that beats the gas guzzlers to the finish line. I’m sure I can get "Green" sponsorship on this one. I would put my sponsors all over my car and my main sponsor would be my ministry. The entrance fee is $20,000 and of course you need a car. I still think this is a small price to pay when you will have nationwide media coverage. Most evangelistic series are well over $20,000 and are only impacting a small percentage of people.
Find out the details and rules.
WHEN: 20th June – 27th June 2008
